Squidoo is a platform whereby you can build pages for free on any topic that you are familiar with and it allows placing of affiliate links in your page. Pages of Squidoo are known as lens and are search engine friendly. Therefore, a lot of affiliates apply BUM marketing techniques when building Squidoo lens to make their lens appear on top organic results of Google. Click on the anchor link for an example of a Squidoo lens.
However, I also use Squidoo lens as landing pages for some products that I promote, especially in article marketing. This is because popular article directory like EzineArticles.com does not allow direct affiliate links to be placed in an article. Therefore, if you are testing an affiliate product and does not wish to design a landing page before you know whether it can sell, you can build lens and use it as your landing page. Then insert URL of your lens in your articles to drive traffic to it.
One good thing about using Squidoo lens as landing page in article marketing is that, if your articles generate a lot of click-through to your lens, it can improve the popularity of your lens on Squidoo. Popularity of lens is measured by LensRank. With more traffic and updated content, you can increase your LensRank and get higher ranking on Squidoo for the category that your lens is in. With higher ranking on Squidoo, it only means: MORE & MORE traffic to your lens. Just imagine how much traffic will your lens get if it gets into the Top 100?
Articles on EzineArticles.com can bring you traffic to your lens all day long, even months after you have wrote your articles. Therefore, you will stand a chance to get a good LensRank… and remember to update your lens frequently which is very easy to do with their user-friendly system.
Using Squidoo lens as your landing pages is not a bad idea, but the best is still to build your own squeeze page/landing page with opt-in function to capture your visitors’ first name and email address. You should just use lens to test out a market of a particular affiliate product. Once you see the product starts to sell, it is time to invest your time and effort to build a proper landing page.
You can then build more lens to drive traffic back to your squeeze page… and make sure that you apply bum marketing techniques to make them rank well on Google for keyphrases that are related to what you are selling.

Squidoo is a good site for landing pages. It is sort of difficult to “test” the conversions because there are so many other places to click off to.
I definitely use Squidoo often for Ezine and for my own blog. If I am promoting an affiliate product, I usually will set up a squidoo site with some PLR articles and links, and there is my landing page.
Good article!

Hi Mike, thanks for the comment. Yes, Squidoo is really very hard to track and test conversion. I mostly use Squidoo as a page which i provide information to the product that I am promoting.
I believe as long as the information is good and keyword-rich, passive traffic to the lens is not a problem at all.
