Mini-Site VS Squeeze Page in Affiliate Marketing…

Cheow, July 9th, 2008 · No Comments

Currently, I am now in the stage of affiliate marketing whereby I am creating sites to market affiliate products. Websites to me are assets when it comes to marketing online… If you really want to differentiate yourself from other marketers and build a substantial income online, you need to build your own assets (online assets are: mini-sites, squeeze pages, opt-in lists, free reports, your own e-books, etc)

In the past, I used to just depend on Bum Marketing to promote affiliate products. I wrote articles and build Squidoo lens to market products and get sales here and there. Then, I moved on to build Squeeze page to capture email addresses and names, building lists for different niches. Now, after reading Chris Rempel’s Confession of a Lazy Super Affiliate, I realize that building squeeze pages alone is not enough. The book shares with me the idea of building mini-sites so as to get multiple long-tailed keywords ranking in search engines… which will make traffic consistent and targeted. So when it comes to promoting an affiliate product, which one is better? Mini-site or Squeeze page?

One problem i found out about using a squeeze page to promote an affiliate product is that the website lacks content. When it lacks content, it is very hard for a squeeze page to rank high for multiple long-tailed keywords in search engines like Google. Without this, you are missing out on a major source of consistent free traffic from search engines.

See… when we promote an affiliate product, we are looking at consistent traffic and sales. You will not want to write articles every single day just to make sure that there are traffic going to your websites or squeeze pages.  Building a mini-site with lots of content targeted to your audience will eventually get your site rank high for multiple keywords on search engines. If you have done your initial research correctly by choosing the right product to promote, and creating the right content to attract the right group of people to your site, getting consistent affiliate sales for the affiliate product that you are promoting should not be too hard.

To build a mini-site, you can start off with creating one that consists of at least 20 pages. Out of the 20 pages, 5 pages will be product review pages. You will offer reviews of 5 different affiliate products on your website for the niche that you are in. As for the other 15 pages, place one article on each page. You need to have at least 15 articles that your target visitors are interested in. These 15 articles are extremely important if you want to achieve success in long-tailed search engine optimization. The content that you write must be related to what you are promoting. For example, if your mini-site is about Registry Cleaning and promote various registry cleaning software, your articles should be about Do-It-Yourself (DIY) registry cleaning or software. In this case, your content will match the overall visitor profile of your website. Remember, relevancy is the key to online sales.

If you are worried about the technical work of building a website from stratch or writing articles yourself, do not worry. You can always outsource these work. For websites, you can hire a freelance designer to do up the site for you. You do not need to have a fanciful site: You just need a site which is clear in navigation and provide the content your target visitors want. If you have some money to invest and will love how to build sites easily, you might want to look into XSitePro. It is a software which allows you to build content website easily. For articles, you can start off by writing the first one or two and outsource the rest of them for $10 an article. Saves yourself an entire day of writing with just $100… well worth it!

The road is hard… there is no easy way to earn a substantial affiliate income online. You need to start somewhere, stop procrastinating, and take action. Start building your first mini-site now. Do not worry about whether it is a success or a dud at this point of time. The key is to start and build one first. You can fine-tune and optimize it as time goes by.
