Time for some ranting. Today post is to answer one of the questions posted to me: How To Use Google Adwords To Promote E-Books?
I believe that you already know Google Adwords is one of the best ways to get targeted traffic to a site almost immediately. However, if you wish to use Adwords to promote e-books, it is more than just redirecting them to the merchant’s site.
Yes, you can drive traffic to the merchant’s site directly so as to test out the products, but i strongly recommend that you should always drive your adwords traffic to your own landing page.
You pay for each visitor coming from Adwords, so why waste it without capturing their information like email and name? If you didn’t capture your Adwords visitors’ emails, you need to pay again for the same visitor in the future.
So, the best practice of using Adwords to promote e-book is to drive your traffic to your own landing page. It is best that you set up a squeeze page with auto-respondent to capture their names and email addresses. Once they have opted in, you can then drive them to your merchant’s sales page.
Of course, to entice them to opt-in, you get to offer what they are looking for. The information that you offer them can be in the form of free e-book, short email course, or simply bring them to a review page where you talk about the particular affiliate product that you think they might be interested to learn more.
A lot of affiliates make the mistake of driving traffic directly from Adwords to merchant’s sales page. Please do not make this same mistake. If you drive traffic directly to your merchant’s sales page, you cannot track the behaviors of your visitors too… So get your own landing page, and plant Google Analytics code in it so that you will be able to know your stats.
Usually for popular e-books, there are already tons of affiliate promoting them with Adwords. It is not surprising to see that the first few Adwords positions already being occupied with advertisers. Some of these advertisers may drive traffic directly to merchant’s page, but they have been around for quite some time already, helping them to achieve very good quality score in Adwords. In order to beat them in positions, you gotta pay more for each click which I think is not worth it if you just waste the click by getting the traffic to the merchant’s page without capturing their names and emails.
So, next time when you are planning to launch any Adwords campaign, do make sure that you get them to your own landing page. Do not think that just because other advertisers drive traffic directly to merchant’s sales page, you also must do the same. If you are doing the same as others, you will just be normal. Break the rules and so that consumers can recognize you from the thousands of other affiliates.
Out.
